Happy Birthday
5th Tyldesley!
At the beginning of
the year 5th Tyldesley
celebrated its 46th birthday.
46 years of offering Scouting to the town of Tyldesley is definitely something to be celebrated so all the Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders and Leaders celebrated together with a game of ten pin bowling at Hollywood Bowl, Middlebrook. The evening also included a choice of food, drink and a fabulous cake!
Cubs' Space Theme
Our Cubs have been working on their Space badge recently. So far they have had a visit from Kids In Space and taken a trip to the Astrology Centre in Bacup and they have many more exciting things lined up.

Lilford District
Snakes & Ladders Competition 2017
5th Tyldesley entered 2 teams into the Lilford District Snakes & Ladders Competition which took place on Sunday 12th February.
All of our Beavers wanted to take part but sadly we could only take 6 children from each night so we held a snakes & ladders competition one week and the children with the highest scores won a place on the team.
Our team represented us beautifully, enjoyed several games of snakes & ladders whilst meeting Beavers from other groups in the District. They were delighted with their certificates for coming 5th place. Well done everyone!
Legoland Sleepover
Our Beavers had a fabulous night sleeping over at Legoland Manchester recently. As the centre was closing to the public our Beavers and their Leaders started their adventure.
Beavers take to the slopes
Our Beavers have spent 2 sessions at the Chill Factore learning to ski. They had 2 evening sessions learning the basics of skiing including how to ascend the slope and how to speed up and slow down their descent. They finished their time skiing from the halfway point of the initial slope. Well done everyone! We definitely have some skiers of the future in our midsts.
Each year our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, Young Leaders and Leaders spend a weekend on Group Camp. This year we set up our canvas village at Bibby's Farm from 12th - 14th May. The event is a great chance for our Scouting Family to join together, take part in various activities, dining together and sharing a campfire with songs and laughter. Our young people and Leaders all had a fabulous time.

Hurray for Hi-Vis
A massive thank you to Atherton & Tyldesley Rotary Club for their recent donation to our Group for the purchase of some hi-visibility complete with our Group name on the back and the Rotary Club logo on the front. These vests are extremely useful as the winter nights draw in as we will be able to take the children out and about more safely.
Beavers' District Dominoes Comp
Each year Lilford District hold a Dominoes Competition for the Beaver Scouts; this year's took place on Sunday 24th September at the Competition at our District HQ Hut.. Our Beaver Colony was represented by 9 Beaver Scouts who were chosen through the Heats played the week before. All the Beavers played well, made new friends from other Colonies and had lots of fun. Our team came 5th out of the eight who entered and made their Leaders very proud with their behaviour and good sportsmanship. Well done everyone!
