Welcome and thank you for visiting 5th Tyldesley Scout Group website. We aim to provide the latest information about the Group and what we are doing. We will also tell you how you can take part in activities and read about our projects.
All the Leaders at 5th Tyldesley are volunteers and put in a lot of time and effort to run their respective sections. There is preparation for weekly meetings, activities to organise and attend at weekends and Group management meetings. Each Leader is CRB checked before joining and are subject to some form of training schedule. Some wish only to become Sectional Assistants but others wish to become Leaders/Assistant Leaders with their sections and enrol in the full training programme available to them. This eventually gains their Wood Badge.
At 5th Tyldesley we welcome both boys and girls into our sections from Beavers up to and including Scouts.
If you would like any further information on becoming a Helper or Leader or you have a child who is interested in joining 5th Tyldesley Scout Group then please do not hesitate to contact us using the button above.
All children received a letter this week giving details of the Remembrance Parade we will be taking part in this Sunday. Any parents/guardians who have not received a letter should contact their Section Leader or check the closed group Facebook page for their Section.
We would love to see all our young people at Parade on Sunday. They must wear full uniform, including neckerchief along with school trousers or skirt and school shoes if they have them (if not, smart shoes please).
Parents are welcome to walk ALONGSIDE the parade on the pavement. Please do not walk in the road with the children. This is a special occasion for them to represent their Group and Scouting. There is a massive sense of pride which comes from being in a parade, however this is dulled if everybody is walking in the road. Thank you for your co-operation in this.
What's been happening this week?
Beavers thought about Remembrance this week ahead of Parade on Sunday. They discussed the symbolism of the poppy, practiced parade formation and the 2 minute silence. They also all created a glittery poppy which now forms part of the wreath which 5th Tyldesley Beavers will place at the cenotaph on Sunday.
Cubs have started work on their Air Activity badge this week. They have been discussing planes and flight and tried out their own styles of paper planes to see which shapes flew the best.
Our Scouts visited the Pottery Place in Atherton this week and took part in some Remembrance themed craft. Each Scout painted their own stunning ceramic poppy. They represented their Troop and the Group beautifully.
